Pete Seeger (1919-2014) was a major force in folk music - and also played important roles in the labor movement, the peace movement (especially in opposing the war in Vietnam), the US Civil Rights Movement (working in Mississippi Freedom Summer, introducing Martin Luther King, Jr. to the song "We Shall Overcome"), and the environmental movement (especially his work with his wife Toshi to support cleanup of the Hudson River through the Clearwater organization).
