"Freeborn Man of the Travelling Peoples" was written by Ewan MacColl for "The Travelling People", one of 8 BBC "Radio Ballads". It was 1st broadcast in 1964.

It was released on MacColl's 1983" Freeborn Man"  LP on Blackthorne Records with Peggy Seeger. MacColl & Seeger recorded many songs for the Radio Ballads series.

It portrays the lifestyle of Ireland and Britain's nomadic peoples. You can read about these on Wikipedia as itinerant groups of Europe, the Romani being the best known. There are 2 separete groups called Irish Travelers & Scottish Travelers.
