First Line:
I've got peace like a river in my soul

About the Song

The 20th century gospel composer Marvin Frey claimed that he composed this song, but he also claimed authorship of other songs (notably "Kumbaya"/"Come by Here") which have been established as being African American spirituals, so his claim is at best controversial.

The origin of this song is an African American spiritual called "Love Like a River".
