This song was written by Walter Donaldson & Gus Hall

It was composed for Eddie Cantor to sing (in blackface) in the 1930 comedy western film version of the 1928 Broadway musical Whoopee! It became a signature song for Cantor.

It was a hit for Ted Weems with vocal by Al Jarrett in 1930 among others.
