Mitchell (born 1943 in Alberta as Joan Anderson) is a Canadian folk singer-songwriter. She is a multiple Grammy-winner and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee.

Mitchell has said that she has Morgellons syndrome. In 2010 she stated she was retiring from the music industry to devote herself to disability causes. She is recovering slowly from a 2015 brain aneurysm.
